Originally a separate village, Arroyo de la Miel now forms part of Benalmadena, the other areas are Benalmadena Pueblo and Benalmadena Costa. Arroyo lies between the two.
It is a small modern town which holds its own distinctive charm and has become the main residential and commercial area of Benalmadena. Buildings are tightly packed and tend to be apartment blocks.
It also has several attractions such as the Tivoli World, the largest family entertainment park on the Costa del Sol and a Cable Carrunning to the summit of the 769-metre Calamorro mountain, which provides panoramic views of over the coastline and on clear days Gibraltar and the Moroccan coastline.

Arroyo de la Miel is located between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. It is a very easily accessible tourist resort considering it is only 15 minutes by train from Malaga’s Picasso International Airport or a 10 minute journey by taxi. The train from here runs from Malaga centre to Fuengirola via the airport. The bustling town of Fuengirola is just seven minutes away while Torremolinos is only five minutes away by train.
There is also a regular bus service running to Benalmadena Pueblo, Mijas, Fuengirola, Malaga and Marbella. The town can also be reached via the toll road, a four-lane highway.
